From the Leadership
On behalf of your elders, I would like to welcome you on an amazing faith journey as we begin an exciting and pivotal year in the history of the Christian Church in Lakeland! It is our hope that each of you has been praying regularly that God will lead us throughout this journey and will also show you the personal role He desires for you to play at Legacy. This walk of faith is not just a testament to the leadership of two congregations stepping out to reach our community for Jesus Christ, it’s also an opportunity for hundreds of brothers and sisters in Christ to expand their relationship with a loving and gracious Heavenly Father. What a fantastic way to start a new year!
As we ask you to step into more opportunities for service we want to caution you to be sure to balance that service with the time and effort you put into your personal walk with the Lord. Also, as you take advantage of getting to know new faces, both long-time members and new guests, don’t forget our motto: real people, real life, real hope.
As your leaders we desire to be authentic, genuine, transparent and approachable. We realize that your relationship with each of us may range from long term to non-existent, so we want you to feel comfortable making your desires, concerns, suggestions known to any of the elders. Our hope is that you will be able to share with someone in leadership.

An Ongoing Celebration
January 6 we had a great celebration as the two congregations joined together.
In the morning, we had a time of fellowship where we got to know one another and learned about our new Adult Bible Fellowship times and schedules. Then at 10:30 a.m. we began our first service as Legacy Christian Church. With over 400 in attendance, it was a little tight, so everyone had to scoot in.
As part of our celebration, we gave everyone a chance to become a charter member of Legacy Christian Church. We are no longer Grove Park Christian Church or Lakeland Christian Church. We are Legacy Christian Church and it was a day we will long remember. At the end of our worship time, we had a bridge-crossing ceremony (we even had a real bridge up front). Anyone wanting to become a partner (member) of Legacy Christian Church came forward and “crossed the bridge.”
In making this decision, all were asked to look over Legacy’s Partnership Expectations. We never ask our partners to do more than the Bible clearly teaches, only what the Bible expects every Christian to do. We look forward to continuing our journey with God as we seek to leave a Legacy. May God bless us and lead us as we seek His heart.
